Description
Pain. Pain is hard. Emotions can be overwhelming. We do not want to feel them sometimes or make others feel them. What I have learnt is pain helps you grow. It helps you spot the things that need to change to improve your world and other people's. Pain can feel unbearable but avoiding it means you do not live to the full. So feel the pain. Let out your truth. Let it hurt or upset others alongside you if need be. But feel it and address it do not shy away from it.
What I have learnt is pain is what you need. Even if your words pain others. Or anger others. Or make others feel sadder. That pain is what you need to do something. You need a reaction. You need a reality check

Giving Myself My Voice Back! is a profound and deeply moving Collection of trauma, grief, bravery, and transformation. Born out of sudden loss and years of unspoken emotional pain, this collection combines raw personal essays, articles, lyric sheets, and therapeutic frameworks that give words to the silent bystander.
This work serves as a guide for anyone navigating complex grief, emotional safety, and rebuilding self-worth.
With the powerful message to "Have a voice, be a Call duck," this book inspires readers to break the silence, step out from the shadows of trauma, and turn heartache into a lasting song of resilience.
Lyric Quotes
"Your body remembers / It holds the score It protects you / It makes you feel / Feel and act / Even if your mind doesn't remember..."
"Your mind is not only one brain / One brain that controls you / Your mind is made of three parts / Three brains / Three brains that can work together / Three brains that can be out of sync..."
"I need to break my circle. / I need to quiet the noise. / Millions of emotions, / All with just one voice. / Emotionally unsafe, Out of control."
"What I would like / Like to hear / Is yes it is rubbish / Yes it is heartbreaking / Yes it changes your world / That in time it will still feel painful..."
"Music gave a voice to the words that were previously locked inside. It allowed the heavy weight of silence to become a song of resilience."
"It took me until I was 35 and I lost my parent to an early passing linked to mental health to finally feel safe enough to let it out."
"Yes, I am the bitch that left. / But not the bitch that failed. I am the bitch that was brave."
"LIKE A DUCK, / Calm on the water surface, / Whilst paddling quickly beneath / You are strong / You swim well!"
"I am holding two truths at once: deep grief for where I came from, and powerful hope for where I am going. That is true strength."
I left the grammatical errors in this book, intentionally because grief, much like life, is never neat, perfect, or polished. My late Mum was my editor, and hiring someone else to fix every flaw felt like replacing her role. This physical book is a living artifact of our relationship and my grieving process. Choosing to leave these mistakes untouched is my way of honoring life's imperfections, just as I had to learn to accept the complex, imperfect reality of my Mum's mental illness and her passing. I know readers and reviewers might point out these errors, but prioritising commercial perfection over emotional truth felt wrong. These flaws aren't mistakes to be hidden behind a false smile. They are living evidence of love, raw vulnerability, and a lasting tribute to my Mum. Reviews so far are 4/5 loosing 1 Mark for grammar- this I am proud of and life is not a perfect 5 ever."
