Harmon was a Vermont lad, who entered the servrce of the Northwest Company m 1800, and was sent west For the next nlneteen years he dld not come east of Fort Wllham, not trll May, 1819, did he turn hls back on the west, and return to h1s native State, Where m the next year his Journals were edlted and pubhshed by the Rev Damel Haskel.
