If the descendants of the present families who shall live here an hundred years from this time shall read this book with as much interest as its author takes in the writing and publication, our labor will have been amply rewarded.
Having spent four years on these Revolutionary grounds, which are sacred to every true American, and are being more and more visited by historians and military students for their classic and historic interest, we feel that we should do violence to the promptings of our patriotic impulses not to note at least a few Of the important features which have daily come to our notice.
