Description
Excerpt from Women as Letter-Writers: A Collection of Letters
Lady Mary was well aware of her gifts for letter writing, as we are told she requested one of her corre spondents to preserve her letters, predicting that they would in the future be well known and widely read. Although the letters of literary women predominate in the present collection, it is not primarily intended to comprise those of literary women alone, but to con stitute a representative selection of women''s corre Spondence, drawn from old and modern sources. With one or two exceptions, the writers of these letters attained fame, but all, I venture to think, deserve to be remembered.
