Description
Somewhere in a society of 9,600 supernatural members is a werewolf who would rather not be found.
The supernatural community came out a decade ago, and it mostly came down to paperwork. Then the romance novels started. Fated mates, alphas and betas, scenting the one across a crowded car park. The werewolves went back into hiding, and these days most of them say they’re something else. Now the local police need a new tracker, and nobody tracks like a werewolf. Rumour puts one in the Benevolent Order of the Otherworldly, and the society has handed over its sign-up sheets. Not one member wrote down Werewolf.
You have 42 clues from the police oracle, and one of them came through distorted. Check each clue against the members on the sheets. One failed clue proves nothing, but a second strikes the name off. Keep going until only one name remains.
Inside the case file
- 240 sign-up sheets with 9,600 members, each listed with a membership number, kind, diet, age and preferred date
- 42 clues covering names, numbers, ages, the people listed nearby, the event each sheet was collected at and the phases of the moon
- One false clue, and nobody knows which, so every name has to fail twice before it’s out
- A reference page with the full moons, the kinds of creature and the society’s events
- Full instructions and a worked example to show you exactly how the puzzle works
- One unique solution, checked against every entry
- The final answer is printed in code, so you won’t accidentally see the solution while working through the book
- Difficulty: 3 out of 3. The hardest in the series
How the puzzle works
Each clue gives you another fact about the werewolf, except one. If a name doesn’t match a clue, mark it. If it fails a second clue, strike it from the sheets. As more clues are applied, the list gets smaller and the possibilities narrow.
This is a logic puzzle book built around one very large suspect list. There are no riddles to solve and no complicated grid to fill. Just 9,600 names, 42 clues, one of them false, and a process of elimination that leads to one answer.
