Description
Miguel Colodrero de Villalobos wrote in the decade when Góngora had just died and Quevedo was at the height of his powers, which is a difficult moment in which to be a poet of the second rank — the giants take all the attention, then and since. His Varias rimas are the ordinary literary production of the Golden Age, the work against which the famous names stand out, and the period cannot really be read without it. The 1629 printing is scarce. This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the 1629 edition, reproduced in full from a library copy. The historical text is reproduced without modification; only the format, margins and legibility have been reset for modern printing.
