In 1276. De Lacy entered upon the first of many cam paigns against the Welsh. In the following year he did homage for 7 - 12 knights'' fees. Numerous writs of sum mons for his attendance at Parliament were addressed to him from 1276 to 1309; he was also summoned to the King''s councils and during the same period he acquired the right of establishing many fairs upon his estates, in cluding those in Lancashire. There are grants extant connected with Burnley, Congleton, Rochdale, Colne, Clitheroe, and other towns.ale In 1279 he was one of the locum tenentes in England during the King''s absence in France.
