Description
The springs of Sacedon, in Guadalajara, were known to Arabic medicine as Salam-Bir. This treatise on their properties, written in Arabic by Ahmad ibn Abd Allah of Toledo, was translated and annotated in 1761 by Mariano Pizzi, professor of Arabic in Madrid, and dedicated to the Real Academia Medica Matritense. It is a rare instance of Spanish Enlightenment medicine turning to its own Arabic inheritance rather than to Paris or London. This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the 1761 Madrid (Antonio Perez de Soto) edition, reproduced in full from a library copy. The historical text is reproduced without modification; only the format, margins and legibility have been reset for modern printing.
