He is Professor of Physics and Astronomy in the University of Leipsic, and has taken place in the front ranks of the scientific men of Europe. He has published many works, among which are Sketches of a Universal Photometry of the Starry Hearens, Physical Nature of the Heavenly Bodies, The Nature (f Comets, and these treatises.
