Description
Excerpt from Through Masai Land; A Journey of Exploration Among the Snowclad Volcanic Mountains and Strange Tribes of Eastern Equitorial Africa: Being the Narrative of the Royal Geographical Society's Expedition to Mount Kenia and Lake Victoria Nyanza, 1883-1884

Then (1885) Masai Land was for the first time made known to the world now it has come within the sphere of British in?uence, -a delicate way, I suppose, of saying that it now practically forms a part of our Imperial posses sions.
