Description
Worries are not very good at waiting. They arrive during dinner, halfway through a game, and reliably at ten past eight when the light goes off.
The Worry Jar is a story about giving them somewhere to go. Not getting rid of them, and not being talked out of them, but putting them down in a particular place so that they stop having to be carried everywhere.
The idea is simple enough for a small child to use straight away, and the story does the explaining — so no grown-up has to deliver a technique. It leaves families with a shared piece of language for something that is otherwise hard to talk about at bedtime.
For the children who worry more than they let on.
Part of Little Signals — gentle stories about what bodies do when feelings get big. For children aged 4–8.
