The Things Under Your Bed

Something has begun to stir in the inky black waters east of New Orleans, lurking in mist shrouded bayous whose waterways have more twists and turns than a writhing nest of snakes. Known as Au Delà amongst the Occult, this swath of swampland was not meant for the faint of heart, nor for the unwary. Hiding dangers outside of your darkest nightmares, this area is normally managed quite strictly by the New Orleans covens, but recently it’s started behaving…oddly. Expanding and contracting in an unknown rhythm, Au Delà’s borders are changing rapidly, releasing malicious energies onto the unsuspecting bystander, and though the Boudreaux are on the case, it couldn’t come at a worse time of the year. Halloween is just around the corner, the night everyone and their brother thinks it’s a fun idea to tangle with forces outside of their control, and Etienne and his family are stretched thin. Thankfully, aid comes in the form of their sister coven from Baton Rouge, the Jourdain, but this extended branch of witches seems to bring their own troubles along with them. As problems continue to mound up, Etienne finds himself caught between the demands of his order, ever taxing, and his ideals for a better tomorrow, ever distracting, accidentally dragging Nica into the fray right beside him. Their friendship has quickly become a focal point in Etienne’s life, a significance to it that he struggles articulating even to himself, but others are starting to take note, and not everyone looks with a kind eye on the budding relationship between a witch scion and an alchemy student. Suddenly, Etienne’s not sure if the two of them can weather this storm of scrutiny, because tensions are rising, the shadows are darkening, and whatever it is that’s slinking just out of their line of sight is haunted by a thirst only one thing can satiate.
