Description
In the year 1772 he obtained the ieitory of Hocklilfe, in Bedfordfhire; the full cure of fouls he ever had. With this alfo he held the Vicarage of Chalgiove and the two were foon after confolidated. An accident happened about this time, from which he narrowly efcaped with his life. Returning from his living, he was {topt near Pancras by a highwayman, who diicharged a piltol into the carriage, which happily, as it was then thought, only broke the glafs. For this fact the delinquent tried, and, on Dr. Dodd''s evidence, convicted and hanged. Early in the next year Lord Chelterfield died, and was fucceeded by our author''s pupil, who appointed his preceptor his chaplain.
