Description
The historical succession of languages through which the Psalter has been chie?y known to Christendom will furnish a convenient frame for exhibiting the mutual relations of these opposite aspects. The readiest and most external scheme of arrangement will conveniently introduce us to that which is inward and essential.
These few preliminary words may suffice to explain the plan of this Introduction: viz. I. The Psalter in Greek and Latin; II. The Hebrew Psalter; III. The English Psalter.
