Both aim at rational and probable interpretations Of things. Whenever and however a theory seems fully to explain the facts, it must, in the absence of any other equally or more satis factory, be accepted provisionally by every mind which is able and willing to accept the point Of View of the theorist and to comprehend the force of his reasoning. One accepts an apparent subjective truth as certainly as he accepts an apparent objective truth. Most minds believe in both alike.
