III. - Eminent counsel have given opinion That the right conferred upon the american atlantic and pacific ship'' canal company by the Republic of Nicaragua, in the contract between that Republic and the Company, to build a Ship Canal across the territory of the Republic survives unimpaired in favour of that Company.'' IV. - The location of the line of the Canal, as adopted and fixed by this Company, is as follows, to wit - Beginning at a point at or near the Port of Greytown, on the Atlantic Ocean, in the Republic of Nicaragua, and running thence in a general westerly direction to the river San Juan; thence up and with the course of said river, passing into the Lake Nicaragua, through the said Lake, and thence by a Canal cut into the Rio Grande.
