The system of numbering which I use was devised by me. A.moments study W111 show that the number indicates the line of descent, kinship to other names, and generation, of each person mentioned. For instance, the number, 1254, means that the name bearing this number, is the fourth child, of the third child, of the second child, of number one, William Morton. The kinship of any two names in the genealogy can therefore readily be determined by placing the numbers which they bear side by Each decimal point represents a generation.
