The book, like F. Betten''s Ancient World, aims to furnish an abundance of material much of which is not found in other books accessible to students. From this teachers will make their own selection. Several sections, Chapter VII for instance, are readily recognized as reference matter. These sections may be omitted Whenever a shorter course is desired.
