To me the fact that many of our name, like myself, had been born far away from their ancestral home, and sat under the same dark cloud that so long overshadowed me, and it was for their sake, and our name in general that I so persistently continued this tedious search for seven long years, so that I might throw some light on their future pathway, and light a beacon''for coming generations which shall be their genealogical polar star for the next hundred years. This work is wholly a labor of love. For means and time expended in collecting material and writing this work I have no other compen sation than your good wishes, and kindly remembrance of me.
