Description
Johannes Tauler (c. 1300-1361), the Dominican preacher of Strasbourg, stands with Eckhart at the head of Rhineland mysticism. Susanna Winkworth's translation of the medieval History and Life together with twenty-five sermons introduced him to the English-speaking world in 1857 and has never been superseded; this Allenson edition opens with John Greenleaf Whittier's poem « Tauler ». Facsimile of the London edition (Allenson & Co., undated, after 1917).This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the ca. 1920, London (Allenson & Co.) edition, reproduced in full from a library copy. The historical text is reproduced without modification; only the format, margins and legibility have been reset for modern printing.
