Description
The Floral Year pairs a bouquet for each month with poems by the South Carolina poet Anna Peyre Dinnies, each flower chosen for its meaning in the Victorian language of flowers. One of the American gift books of the 1840s, it was issued in Boston by B. B. Mussey with a chromolithographed title by William Sharp, a coloured frontispiece and twelve plates of bouquets. This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the 1848 edition, reproduced in full from a library copy. The historical text is reproduced without modification; only the format, margins and legibility have been reset for modern printing.
