Description
Excerpt from The Fiddle Fancier''s Guide: A Manual of Information Regarding Violins, Violas, Basses and Bows of Classical and Modern Times Together With Biographical Notices and Portraits of the Most Famous Performers on These Intruments
The Reader who may be interested in the subject of this Guide will, I hope, find the contents of the book to be of some value to him - how much, if any, more than usual, is not for me to say. I think, however, I may, without egotism, state that there is-hardly a maker of any import ance, from the earliest to the latest, about whom, or about whose work, something fresh in the matter of descriptive detail may not be gleaned from these pages, while a very large number of the more ordinary class of craftsmen have had certain points of their work briefly elucidated in a manner calculated to be helpful for purposes of identification.
