Description

The book is a resource for students, fledgling churches or individuals wanting to have an overview of what the Bible is about. It does not seek to replace individual study of Biblical doctrines or even history but more as an encouragement to do so. In essence the book started off as a chronology of events within the Old Testament but that led to what could be regarded as a timeline related to the 'people of God' and how God'spromises were and still are linked to the nation or individual's responsibilities. There is a pr?cis for each book of the Bible and a one line statement for each chapter within each book together with an Appendix giving details of various related places and journeys. The closing parts of the book deal mainly with the growth of the early Christian church up until the time of Constantine in 325 AD and covers the opposition from without 'persecution' and also from within 'heresy'. The book is not interspersed with references to chapters and verses since the idea was to assume that the reader might well doubt the veracity of the Bible and hence not value proof from within the Bible. Hopefully the result is something that is easy to read and interesting enough to generate further investigation.
