Captain Johnson was appointed com mander at Fort Reno, after its capture, as a mark of appreciation for the bravery displayed by him at the battle of Roanoke Island; but this pos1 tion was too monotonous for his ambitious spirit, and he again joined his regiment, in time to participate in the battle in which he lost his life.
