Description
Rules for pronunciation have been given only with a view to assisting the teacher, but not to displace him. After each rule and the examples, a brief résumé is given for the sake of impressing at one glance the important points in each lesson.
Exceptions have been introduced gradually and naturally, just as they might occur in the language instead of giving them in long lists at the end.
The difficult subject of liaison is reserved, for formal study, for the last six chapters, but this should not prevent a gradual introduction of the simpler liaison: during the earlier lessons.
