Excerpt from Peace-Republicans' Manual, or the French Constitution of 1793, and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of Citizens, According to the Monsieur of June 27th, 1793: In the Original French, Together With a Translation in English; To Which Is Added, Debates on This Constitution, in the National Convention; Being Brief Extracts, Translated From the Moniteur; And Involving a Number of Most Important Political Queries
Upon inquiry, I could not find that this Constitution had ever been published in new-york in a pamphlet form and as Newspapers, though containing momentous stato papers, are t'oo seldom reserved, I thought it probable, that a translation of this 'onstitutiou $although translations of the same, and of the Declaration 0 rights, were publish ed in the N ew-york journal extraordinary of September 7, would be found at present in the possession of but very few: persons. I therefore yielded to the desire I. Felt. Of havings small number of copies printed in this favoured Land, where sound reasoning and unperverted accounts of facts can. Be freely publis d, and ultras and opiniom submitted to the considesation of the reader, without res traint or danger.
