Description
Patrick hamilton was the first to fall a martyr at the commencement in earnest Of that struggle which ended in the Reformation. His is the first name remembered by Knox in his history Of that event. It is also the first inscribed upon the Obelisk which stands by St Andrews Bay, commemorating five brave men who, in those years and in that city, perished by fire for their adhesion to Pro testant principles.
