Description
Parzival and the Grail
The Path of the Soul
The adventures of Parzival are elaborated by artist and writer Marianne van den Dungen in thirty-five beautiful drawings. Scenes from Wolfram von Eschenbach's medieval 'Parzival' were chosen as a starting point, with her drawings complemented by texts that tell the story of the quest for the grail in abridged form. These texts address a wealth of symbols incorporated in the book, which point to a deeper layer.
The obstacles Parzival encounters during his wanderings are of all times and his reactions are therefore recognisable to all. As the story unfolds, Parzival's awareness grows. His quest for the grail is therefore, at the same time, the story of everyone who walks the path of awareness.
Although times and circumstances are different now than in the Middle Ages, people's inner experiences have not changed substantially. The texts connect to the present time and ensure that everyone will recognise themselves in all facets of this profoundly timeless story. A story that shows step by step that there is a path that can truly liberate us, making the grail accessible even now, for every serious seeker who asks the right inner questions.
'In this book, a troubadour of the heart is speaking. A soul, who learned to see through 'the disease of ignorance' (Buddha) and discovered inner wisdom. Her drawing pencils became subtle fingers of the soul, poetically portraying the quest, her quest, for the grail.'
