Nova follows the human trail through archives, maps, photographs, changed identities and family notebooks created by people who knew that a complete record could be dangerous. Rook follows the scientific trail through contradictory DNA matches, medical data, flawed assumptions and a treatment model that may be promising—but is far from a magical antidote.
