Description
Excerpt from Musical Form
When, ten years later, the second edition was prepared, I added a second part in which my own ideas and observations took the book be yond the status of an elementary textbook. The new chapters on Logic and Coherence, The Accompaniment in Its Formal and Stylistic Sig nificance, The Forms of Unison Music, touched new ground, not ade quately tilled in any older book. I also added detailed analyses of the Gregorian chant, oriental and exotic music, renaissance and baroque music, works of Bach, Beethoven, the romantic masters, Wagner and Brahms, César Franck and Debussy. Diagrams helped to translate certain musical constructions into visual terms, thus strengthening the reader''s insight into the structure of the composition.
