The Secretary of State, to whom was referred the resolution of the Senate of the 13th ultimo, requesting the President, if, in his opinion, it be not incompatible with the public interest, to communicate to the Senate all the correspondence between the Government of the United States and its diplomatic agents in Peru and Chili, respectively, cc curring Since the 1st day of April, 1879, touching public affairs in or be tween those States, and also such other correspondence and information on the subject as may be in the possession of the Executive Depart ment, has the honor to lay before the President the full correspondence'' in response to that resolution.
