Description
The International Congress of Americanists had met since 1875 to gather what was being learned about the peoples and antiquities of the Americas, and its nineteenth session was held in two parts — Washington, then La Paz in December 1914. Meeting in Bolivia put the Andean past in front of the delegates rather than in their bibliographies, and this first instalment of the proceedings collects the papers presented there. Congress volumes are the raw material of a discipline: work in progress, printed before it was settled, with the disagreements intact. This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the 1915 edition, reproduced in full from a library copy. The historical text is reproduced without modification; only the format, margins and legibility have been reset for modern printing.
