Les Mémoires publiés par william-temple Franklin furent aussitôt traduits en français par un anonyme, qui est, je crois, M. Charles Malo. L''ouvrage, qui forme deux volumes in - 8° et qui parut en 1818, est intitulé Mémoires sur la vie et les écrits de Benjamin Franklin, docteur en droit, etc., publiés sur le manus crit original, rédigés par lui-même en grande partie, et continues jusqu''à sa mort par william-temple Fran klin, son petit - fils. En 1828, M. Renouard a donné à Paris, en deux volumes in - 12, un nouvelle traduction des Mémoires sur la vie de Benjamin Franklin, écrits par lui - même. Cette traduction a été revue sur le ma nuscrit original, probablement celui de M. Le Veillard. Enfin, en 1841, il a paru chez le libraire Gosselin, un volume in - 12, intitulé Mémoires complets; oeuvres morales et littéraires de B. Franklin, traduction nouvelle d''après la dernière édition publiée à New York.
