Das vorliegende Werk hat die gesamte theoretische und experimentelle Ballistik zu seinem Gegenstand. Die theoretische Balh''stik beschäftigt sich mit der Untersuchung der Geschoß bewegung und der daran sich anschließenden Fragen auf Grund der Mathematik und Mechanik. Diese Disziplin zerfii.llt natur gemäß in zwei Teile; hiervon verfolgt die sogenannte innere Ballistik das Geschoß von dem Moment ab, wo es sich im Innern des Rohre in Bewegung setzt, bis zum Passieren der Mündung; die äußere weiterhin von dem letzteren Moment bis zum Eindringen in das Ziel. Die experimentelle Ballistik hat es mit den zugehörigen Messungs und Beobachtungsmethoden zu tun.
