Description
RAF Bomber Command flew operations over Germany and the occupied countries from the first day of the war in September 1939 to almost the very last day of the war in Europe in May 1945. Bomber Command losses were staggering, over 56,000 men killed.
From 2015 onwards many of the surviving veterans of those operations, then in the mid-to-late 90s, were interviewed for the International Bomber Command Centre.
In this book, a selection of those interviews conducted by David Kavanagh are combined with background information to the raids they flew and, where possible, their logbook entries.
The veterans also spoke about their reasons for wanting to join the RAF, and their reflections on their role in the Allied strategic bomber offensive.
