Eine genauere Darstellung des Verfalls samt dessen Ur sachen habe ich einem späteren Bande vorbehalten. Doch erfordert es der Ernst der Aufgabe, vor die ich den Leser des vorliegenden Bandes bringe, daß ich diese Zustände eben auch schon hier, wenn auch nur in Kürze und skizzen haft, bespreche.
Zunächst sei hier von den äußeren Faktoren die Rede, die am Verfall unserer Kunst Schuld tragen und unter ihnen vor allem vom reproduzierenden Musiker.
