Description
John Adams entered public life with the first session of the Continental Congress, which met at Philadelphia, 5 Sep tember, 1774, and remained in the service of the country almost uninterruptedly until the close of his administration, 4 March, 1801. Of this period, nine years were covered by the American Revolution, in which he took a leading part and held it. With undiminished zeal and constancy until the Treaty of Peace in 1783. It is this part of his life of which I am to give some account.
