Description
Do we like to think that we root our church's sung worship in the Bible? Yet do we let its very own songbook languish, unsung, in some dark, dusty corner? Is our systematic planning of our weekly worship mostly devoid of scripture's songbook?
Do we sing lots except for psalms?
The Psalms, the Lord's song, have been the bedrock of the Church's expression of faith and worship across the centuries. Should they not be ours too?
Shall we sing the Lord's song? Looking for a way to start? Looking for a representative psalm selection, not just of scriptural praise, but also of scriptural lament?
This collection of settings and songs from the psalms (and a few other scripture passages) is offered to help your church recover and rediscover the Lord's song; our song for him.
Styles range widely from traditional organ-based to music-group. Unless otherwise indicated they can be adapted to whatever resources are locally available. A moderate pianist and solo singer should be able to lead most of them.
This is a selection of over 100 music settings of psalms and other scripture songs, for churches large and small. The selection has reasonable lectionary-based provision for the major church seasons.
