But one thing only in the compilation of this work have I a sincere regret for, and that is the deficient list of the wounded. It is a well known fact among all military men engaged in the late rebellion, that only the severely wounded were accounted for on the muster and pay rolls of the respective com panies, for all the slightly wounded would answer to their names on muster-day, and-by their pres ence, their wounds would seldom, if ever, be an event Of record.
