Bucks, one of the three original counties of Pennsylvania, is bounded on the northeast and southeast by the Delaware, southwest by Philadelphia and Montgomery counties, and, 011 the north, by Lehigh and Northampton. The surface is uneven and rolling, the soil fertile. It is watered by several tributaries of the Delaware, the princi pal being the Neshaminy, Pennypack, I'oquessing, Tohickon, and a branch of the I'erkiomen emptying into the Schuylkill. Limestone, in large quan tities, is found in the central region of the county. And valuable deposits of iron ore in the northeast. The inhabi tants are almost exclusively employed in agricultural pursuits. In 1790 the population was 1800, 1810, 1820, 1830.
