Description
From the last chapter of the Vz''z''a we learn that the author was an intimate friend of John Somerset, a court physician under Henry VI., and an adherent of Duke Humphrey. The Vila is marred by its grandiloquent and turgid style but after the Germ fails us it becomes the leading authority on the Eng lish side. In its earlier portion it borrows much from the Gesm; afterwards the author had his own and his patrons'' recollections to depend upon; he may also have been acquainted with an early edition of Monstrelet.
