Indie Reader Review

Ms. Taylor's GIVING MYSELF MY VOICE BACK!:Vol. 2 Like a Duck! blends poetry, memoir, and workbook into a guide for navigating life's challenges while learning to express your true self. Written in a simple, widely accessible style with practical solutions, it recasts a bad day as the "20 degrees" of a duck's narrow vision as joy awaits in the other 340. Unpolished by design, it's a worthwhile read for anybody who has loved someone through mental illness—making a quietly bold case for retiring the word "abuse" in favor of "Emotional Bystander."

Volume 2 of Giving Myself My Voice Back!

PART OF A SERIES - 4 VOLUMES OUT NOW!

This book is me saying goodbye & I will love you always Mum!

This book is the story of a journey—not her story, but mine!

This book is the story of YOUR journey, the one still to come!

Mental health is not a weakness or a choice, it is an illness like any other illness. It is an illness that can silence you, change your mindset, until things feel loud but look quiet. However, you can fly in a V formation and share the energy. When you are calm on the surface but paddling hard underneath, reach out to others and ask for help.

Use your call! Your voice!

Never be silenced, you matter and have great value!

Be a Duck not a Silent Warrior! You can survive your habitat!

Use your 340-degree vision (Monocular Vision) to see the joy.

When times are hard, that is just the 20-degrees right in front of you (Binocular Vision). It is a small part of the view.

Take in the whole view, not just what your mind is letting you see. So keep paddling, seek help when needed.

 You are a DUCK!

You don’t have to do it alone! Letting someone else fly for a while is a way to survive, survive whilst you carry on stronger.

There are no photos or polished edits here, as I lost my Editor!

Volume 2 steps away from traditional self-help styles to offer raw, interactive suggestions, for real world trauma.

Nine Suggestions!

That will make you into a DUCK.

But the RIGHT breed of Duck!

You may notice that some thoughts, memories and questions return throughout this book. They have not been repeated by accident. Trauma is repetitive. Grief revisits the same places until the mind is ready to move on. I chose not to smooth over that reality because I wanted this book to reflect how it truly felt." "I left the grammatical errors in this book intentionally because grief, much like life, is never neat, perfect, or polished. My late Mum was my editor, and hiring someone else to fix every flaw felt like replacing her role. This physical book is a living artifact of our relationship and my grieving process. Choosing to leave these mistakes untouched is my way of honoring life's imperfections, just as I had to learn to accept the complex, imperfect reality of my Mum's mental illness and her passing. I know readers and reviewers might point out these errors, but prioritising commercial perfection over emotional truth felt wrong. These flaws aren't mistakes to be hidden behind a false smile. They are living evidence of love, raw vulnerability, and a lasting tribute to my Mum. Reviews so far are 4/5 loosing 1 Mark for grammar, this I am proud of and life is not a perfect 5 ever.
