His edition of the Geological Sketches offers nothing new to the public. Taken in connection with the former one, it only pre sents in a permanent form and in their original sequence all the geological and glacial papers contributed by Professor Agassiz to the At lantic Monthly during a number of years. The series must still be considered as unfin iehed, since his own hope of adding to it a complete account of his investigations on the drift phenomena of our coast and its outlying islands was not fulfilled. The material, in the shape of rough notes and sketches, had long been accumulated, awaiting for careful revision the quiet hour which never came.
