Description
The Vulgar Christian Era coincides with the 14th year before the death of Augustus. But this date would interrupt the narrative at an inconvenient point, and leave the transactions of the period incomplete. It was for obvious reasons desirable that the whole reign Of Augustus should be included, in which the im perial system was gradually and firmly established. The Tables are accordingly carried down to his death, and contain the annals Of 294 years, from the passage of Pyrrlzus into Italy in the spring of bc. 280, to the death of Augustus in August of the second year of the 198th Olympiad.
