Description
The series of views is arranged geographically from north to south. We begin with Cairo and the Pyramids, and, following the course of the river, we proceed to Dendera, to Thebes, to Hermonthis, to Philae and Biggeh, at the first cataract, where we quit Egypt and enter Nubia and then on to Abou Simbel, at the second cataract, examining the principal buildings as we pass. This takes us to our sixty-second view. After this the ruins become less frequent and less important, and our last view finds us at the temple of Soleh, in Ethiopia, beyond the stony district of the second cataract.
