Die Forderung der gleichen Periode fur alle Pulse eines Or ganismus folgt unmittelbar aus der Erkenntniss, dass das Herz das Pumpwerk für das in sich geschlossene System der Blutrohren dar stellt. Die Anstösse, welche dasselbe der Flüssigkeitssäule ertheilt, müssen daher an allen Orten, an welchen sie überhaupt nachweisbar sind, in denselben Intervallen wiederkehren. Dagegen ist nicht zu erwarten, dass die Pulse an allen Orten gleichzeitig auftreten, weil die Fortleitung der Stösse eine gewisse Zeit in Anspruch nehmen wird.
