Denn Cheret musste wohl oder übel seine Entwürfe auch ausführen, da er ja selbst‚anfangs nichts weiter als handwerklich gebildeter Lithograph war. Der Künstler, der in ihm steckte, hat sich erst allmählich entwickelt, und seine wahrhaft künstlerischen Werke sind erst im letzten Jahrzehnt entstanden.
