Description
Currito de la Cruz was the popular novel of its decade in Spain — a foundling raised in the bullring, rising through the profession, in a Seville that Pérez Lugín (1870-1926) knew and reproduced closely. This is the stage adaptation he made with the dramatist Manuel Linares Rivas. Adaptations by the original author are unusual and revealing: what he keeps, what he cuts and what he is willing to reshape for an audience in front of him tells you what he thought the story actually was. This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the 1923 edition, reproduced in full from a library copy. The historical text is reproduced without modification; only the format, margins and legibility have been reset for modern printing.
