Description

Excerpt from Converts to Rome: Since the Tractarian Movement to May, 1899

IN the present month this compilation attains its majority, for it was in June, 1878, that the lists bearing the title of Rome''s Recruits first appeared in the columns of the Whitehall Review.

Since that date, and especially since that of the edition of 1892, the constant ?ow of conversions to Holy Church (the real old English Church, the Church that alone could be recognised by an Augus tine, a Bede, a Dunstan, an a Becket or a Langton, could they but visit this land of 300 sects), and lastly the present acute crisis which is taking place in our midst in religious matters, have impelled me to issue a new and greatly enlarged edition of Converts to Rome.
