Escasa debia ser su importancia en el siglo XI, pues aunque incluido en los términos municipales de Palenzuela, en modo alguno le mencionan sus fueros en el detallado deslinde de aquellos efec tuado en tiempo de Alfonso VI, ni tampoco entre las poblaciones, como Moral, Quintana, Villahan, Peral, Valdecañas, Valles, y otras que formaban el alfoz ó jurisdicción de Palenzuela 9. Pero el llegar al reinado de D.& Urraca ó sea a los primeros años del siglo XII ya vemos destacarse su figura y crecer en importancia merced a una noble señora, religiosa suya y perteneciente a una de las familias más pudientes de tierra de Burgos. Llamabase Doña Teresa Or dóñez.
